Happiness (LYRICS)

The world’s grown hot

And your love’s grown cold

And you’re growing old

And you still know no God

So what?

You still draw breath

And while you’re still alive

You might find what you’ve been striving for

One place you’ve not looked yet

Find your happiness

Find your happiness

Find your happiness inside

Your heart’s so dark

You never go inside

And so you never find

The thing that makes you spark

You jerk

You got just one job to do

You just got one short life

You can’t love another right

Until you fall in love with you

Find your happiness

Find your happiness

Find your happiness inside

And everybody keeps telling you

What you should do

But everybody happens to be wrong

You won’t find your happiness

In big success or sweet caress

If you can’t be happy

Singing your own sweet song

Find your happiness

Find your happiness

Find your happiness inside

Lovely little song. Wonder if it got a live airing, as there are no versions other than the original demo? I dare say you could release a second Alien Envoy album of demo versions of songs not on Nine Lives.

It did get a play at the first show Tom, but never quite got my head around the right way to attack it. Funnily enough, it’s been growing on me recently. I do have a bunch of tunes which we didn’t include on “Nine Lives”, not because the songs weren’t up to it (they include some of my favourites) but because I didn’t think we’d cracked the recording of them quite as well as on the final nine. I’m sure I’ll get back to them someday soon, not quite so sure what approach I’ll take though. Thanks very much for that expression of interest, Tom.
